One-to-one mentoring opportunities are available to all students with parental permission. It is proven that mentoring helps students make positive choices and avoid negative behaviors in order to achieve their greatest personal potential and become an accountable young adult.
Having a mentor in your life means having a responsible adult who is available to listen to you. It could also mean receiving guidance and encouragement, answering your questions, providing homework help, learning a new skill or hobby (i.e., auto mechanics, sailing, golf, rocketry, crafts, sewing, etc.) together, helping you to learn to hold a job, teaching you to budget, or a host of other valuable life skills. In addition a mentor will help you better understand yourself as you grow up and experience challanges. These things are waiting to be shared with you by people who care.

Why have a mentor in my life?
• A mentor is a trusted friend who will be there for you when no one else seems to be. • He/she is a person who will listen to you and will not give up on you when life gets hard. • A mentor can help teach you new things and is eager to help you grow in the things that you are interested in.

What do I need to do as a mentee?
• Make a one-year commitment to meet weekly with a mentor for 90 minutes. It is important that you try to be consistent the entire year. • Be respectful of your mentor relationship • Communicate with your mentor to set up meeting times and share with them when I am unable to meet • Be honest - a mentoring relationship is built on trusting each other • Work through challenges together rather than giving up

A process takes place to ensure that the proper mentor is chosen for a student. Students and their parents are asked to fill out a mentor interest survey along with other permission forms that describe student's interests and potential expectations. Trained volunteer mentors are then matched up with students based on their interests.

How to Get Connected with LifeBridge
Students need not sign up with an individual mentor from the start. There are many group activities scheduled throughout the school year to let you get to know and feel comfortable with the Life Bridge staff.
Choose the events that interest you most, so that you enjoy time with other teens and our staff. Sign up for group activities such as hiking, paintball, movie outings, “Garage” or other events. Our big annual events include Wilderness Ascent--hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire regularly, Winter “Meltdown” Camp, or a large community service project that is scheduled each July.
To be able to attend our activities, you must fill out a Permission Slip.
